The 3rd International Conference on Islamic Education and Instruction (ICIEI) 2025 “Navigating a Sustainable Future: Leveraging Technology to Enhance Science Learning and Foster Innovation in Islamic Education”

Surakarta, October 24, 2025 — The Faculty of Islamic Education and Teaching (FIT), UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, successfully held The 3rd International Conference on Islamic Education and Instruction (ICIEI) 2025 with the theme “Navigating a Sustainable Future: Leveraging Technology to Enhance Science Learning and Foster Innovation in Islamic Education.” The event took place at the SBSN Building Seminar Room, 2nd Floor, from 09.00 AM to 05.00 PM (WIB).

The conference opened solemnly with remarks from the masters of ceremony, Dr. Rio Kurniawan, M.Pd. and Johane Lintang Atilo, followed by the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Ahmad Fauzan Yasir, S.Pd., and the singing of Indonesia Raya and Mars UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta.

In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. H. Toto Suharto, M.Ag., Rector of UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, emphasized the need for ethical foundations in science and technology amid the rapid digital transformation. He warned that technological advancement without moral integrity could lead to social and environmental damage, quoting Surat Ar-Rum (30:41) as a reflection on the misuse of human knowledge.

Prof. Dr. H. Fauzi Muharom, M.Ag., Dean of Faculty of Tarbiyah, welcomed the participants and reported that this third international conference was attended by 447 presenters from 55 universities across eight countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States, and Pakistan. He expressed gratitude to all committees, publishers, and collaborators for their continuous support.

The event also featured a traditional Njero dance performance by Mathematics Education students, followed by a prayer led by Drs. Sukirman, M.Ag. The conference continued with parallel sessions, held both online and onsite, enabling participants from various regions to present and discuss their research findings.

The plenary session featured distinguished speakers from three countries. Prof. Christopher Johnstone, Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, USA, discussed AI and Higher Education Leadership, highlighting ethical policies and academic freedom in AI use for teaching and learning. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anas Tajudin from Olympia Education Group, Malaysia, presented strategies for building sustainable higher education ecosystems in ASEAN through digital transformation and regional collaboration. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Sutanto, S.Si., DEA. from Universitas Sebelas Maret, Indonesia, shared his research on K-Means Clustering for optimizing mosque water reuse systems, integrating mathematics, religion, and sustainability.

Participants in the Parallel Sessions had the opportunity to participate in discussions in on site in SBSN Building UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta and  virtual rooms hosted by Zoom, which included speakers from 8 different nations.  Both Arabic and English presentations were provided, enhancing the academic discussion on Islamic science and education in the digital age. Closing the event, the organizing committee expressed appreciation to all participants and contributors. The 3rd ICIEI 2025 concluded successfully, reinforcing UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta’s commitment to advancing Islamic education through technology, ethics, and innovation in the pursuit of a sustainable future.
